Spring Twists is a twisted protective style that’s usually worn for four to six weeks. Spring twists are a shorter version of passion twists.
I decided to attempt spring twists after realizing that I still needed a get up and go style during quarantine. They looked simple. I liked the length. I saw it as an opportunity to try burgundy color in my hair.
How long does it take?
This style took me five hours to complete not including me washing, deep conditioning, and blow drying my hair which adds another two hours. I watched one of favorite shows Love or List It for the majority of the time, in addition to calling my sister on video chat.
How much does it cost?
I purchased my hair and dreadlock beads from Amazon. It costed about $35. They have a variety of hair colors that you can check out here.
What did I use?

Maintenance
I massage my scalp with oil and put on my bonnet. In the morning, I do the reverse.
What is my process?
- Use a rat tail comb to part your into a box.
- Use your moisturizer or leave in conditioner on your hair.
- Apply your oil over the moisturizer.
- Add a little bit of gel or edge control to lay down the roots.
- Grab two pieces of hair and cross them.
- Begin to braid the two pieces in with your hair about 5 to 8 time.
- Add mousse and then begin to twist until you reach the end.
- At the bottom, twirl the hair until it creates a curl. Repeat until you’ve finished your whole head.
- Lastly, cover your hand in mousse and rub it on the twists to lay down any stray hair. Then, lay down edges and spray with oil sheen.
